Have you been to a Sage Grouse lek? It’s a fabulous experience! The birds were once wide-spread but are now very limited and hard to find. The viewing experience includes entering a blind before sunrise and waiting for the birds – bundle up! Males arrive first and display back and forth for each other – they are heard before there is enough light to see them! The Sage-Grouse males change shape dramatically when they display, becoming an almost spherical shape, as they puff up their chest, droop their wings and fan their tail into a starburst.
