Staying in Spain, these are Red-legged Partridge. While these are common, typically they are very wary and they are hunted throughout Spain. These two came to a small drinking pond every night about sundown. He (standing) would come warily first. After about a minute of “all clear” she would come out of the underbrush and drink. She would then retire and he would drink and leave. The entire process would take 1-2 minutes. The sun was just setting so I left some of the orange color cast as this was the light as I remembered it.

The subject, lighting and the composure of this photo truly make it outstanding! I love how the male is keeping watch over the female!!
I like the orange cast in your partridge pic. It truly gives the feeling of sunset. Thanks also for the description of how these birds came to the water.
