We were in NW Indiana at the Highland Heron Rookery on a rainy September Saturday morning when we spotted a Merlin at the top of some cottonwood trees. As the rain stopped, it seemed to be trying to dry itself by spreading its wings and racing from tree to tree – quite the sight!
