While Neotropic birds have a rightful reputation of being colorful, there are some wonderfully colored birds in the Northern Hemisphere also. This is an example, a Yellowhammer. The yellow is obvious in the name; not sure where the “hammer” came from. This bird was photographed in Spain. Shot with a Canon R5, 100-500 lens, F/8.0, SS 1/400 (to try and capture some raindrops falling), ISO 2500 and EC of -1.0 (a mistake on my part that I had to correct in post).
Yellowhammers are not rare, but can be difficult to find as they are quite localized.

That Yellowhammer is such a beautiful little bird! Like a combination of a Yellow and Cape May Warbler.
