Double-crested Cormorant

Halloween Double-crested Cormorant

Viewed 14 Times

Why include this for Halloween? The prehistoric looking Double-crested Cormorant has been given a bad rap. Some people think they are sinister and sneaky because of the black feathers. Others say they eat too many fish. Not true. They eat less fish than loons and the fish they eat are often species people do not want. They eat more than 250 species of fish.

I picked this photo for the Halloween contest because you can see water droplets on its black body, the orange on the face and the beak that has speared a fish.
