King Eider

Everywhere we traveled in Iceland we searched for the King Eider. After a week, we spotted this – our first. Just then, one of our party fell and was seriously injured. Our focus changed to providing her emergency care and the King Eider was forgotten. The fallen participant was taken back to Reykjavik by air ambulance and recovered fully from her injuries. Lesson learned: Always watch your step while birding!
