Common Loon in full breeding plumage

During migration (spring or fall) it is not uncommon to see Common Loons on Lake Erie in the Cleveland area. However, they are usually too far from shore for a good photo. This week we had two loons land in the pond at Clague Park near our townhouse. They afforded good views and attracted numerous birders and photographers. Yesterday’s good sunlight allowed for a great photo.
