It is a bird widespread across the Indian sub continent, the male is glossy black with a red vent the female has a brownish back with a light grey belly. The nest is made grass rootlets and rubbish lined lined with feathers or hair. Its eggs are creamy white clutch consists of four eggs, incubation period is 12 days.
