I found some unedited images that I took in April of 2021 in Costa Rica. We were able to get into Costa Rica (remember COVID?), but had a hard time getting out. Not to worry. If you are going to be quarantined, Costa Rica is a great place for that to happen.
Both the male and female Resplendent Quetzals feed the young. This shot has had some artificial sharpening applied as it was taken in low light and this prevented a fast shutter speed.
While certainly a less than ideal image, I still like the memory it evokes.

Kind words. Thank you. I was just learning how to use my R5, and did not fully understand the “eye tracking” AF. That, coupled with a slow SS and high ISO, made for many soft shots. This one was the best of the bunch, but the image you see has been run through Topaz Sharpen AI. The software improved the shot, but if you blow it up, you can certainly see sharpening artifacts. Nonetheless, it was a wonderful morning. Literally sitting in a farmer’s back yard where this nest had been built. Rain coming and going and the two Quetzals… Read more »
