When an uncommon bird comes in the area, word spreads pretty quickly. These Wilson’s Phalaropes were foraging in a small mudflap, right next to a busy Walmart parking lot. They move so quickly hunting for insects, that for me, it can be difficult to get a decent photo of one. Luckily for me, they took a minute break. Even luckier, both male and female were tending. Back to back or side to side, and I was able to get both in the same frame. Unlike most birds, the female is more flashier than the male.
