American White Pelican
I stumbled across this photo when I was looking for bear cub photos to send to my great niece. I took this picture while I was on a bicycle tour of Northern Illinois. Also on the tour were two friends I had met years earlier on a bicycle tour in Wisconsin – Peg Gramas and Diane Sarther. We started this day in Moline and rode to Rock Falls. We crossed the Rock River from Sterling to Rock Falls on the Sinnissippi Dam and this is where I saw the pelicans.

Great pic – I love to see the Pelicans. Perhaps you know, but Peg’s husband Lee is a member of GBP and used to do work on our house when he lived in Glen Ellyn. Small world!
I wasn’t sure how you knew Peg and Lee, but Peg was the one who told me about your website after I showed her my bald eagle pictures a few years ago. Peg, Lee, Diane, her husband Jim, my wife, and I all went to a Gin Blossoms concert at the Morton Arboretum several years ago. That was the only time I met Lee. The arboretum sure has changed a lot since I was a kid growing up in Lombard.
