We went birding at the Crew Bird Rookery Swamp Trail, which is about 15 mile east of Naples. The ponds were drying up, due to the lack of rain for months. The low water concentrated the fish, the alligators, the snakes and the birds.
It was interesting to watch this Florida Banded Watersnake swim closely past the Roseate Spoonbill.

We saw many of these snakes that day! I took several neat close-up photos of the snakes without birds in the frame – but we’re not posting Great Snake Pics on this site!
