This bird is also known as the common koel, the male is heavy and completely glossy black, the female has dark brown body with spotted upper parts. This bird is spotted in open forest areas. It lays its eggs in the crows nest. Its eggs hatch before the crows so that chicks monopolize the food

The nesting habits of the Koel are very similar to that or our Brown-headed Cowbirds, although the Cowbirds lay their eggs in a variety of different species’ nests.
