This is a gregarious species forming flock outside outside the breeding season, typically of 25 birds, they make loud harsh calls when disturbed. They are seasonal breeders. Summer is the peak breeding season.

There are some in the United States, being domestically bred. I was driving down a country road in Illinois when I saw three of them alongside the road.
