This large pale curlew has a long evenly curved bill with plain neck and evenly streaked neck. It has sandy buff upper parts, with dark feather centers, pale under parts and streaked flanks. It has a dark bill with pink mandible base, The legs are bluish grey or green. The female adult curlew has a much longer bill.
