This Kite has a big head, owl like face, and large red eyes, its is small and dark with a wide gap when perched its long pointy wings extended beyond a slightly notched tail. The adult has a white head with black eye patches, white under parts and grey upper parts and a large black shoulder patch. This kite frequently cocks its tail in flight. It breeds at different times. The nest is loose platform of twigs in which 3 to 4 eggs are laid. The female spends more effort in the construction of the nest. Both parents share the incubation, the male spends more time hunting for food.
