This is a small wader. It is similar to the American spotted sand piper. The common sand piper breeds in Europe and Asia. It is usually encountered alone or sometimes seen in small groups, although larger flocks are found in migration or at breeding season. The nest is on ground , when threatened the young ones cling to their parents.
