One of the things I enjoy the most during our travels is being in the woods or jungles at dawn. As the world awakens, often the sounds are amazing. Most birds are most active very early and many times you will hear the sounds of the night creatures retiring and the day creatures awakening.
As you are listening though, at times the jungle goes silent. It happens at once; one minute cacophony, then total silence. Usually this means a predator has moved into the area. I may not see it, but the birds do.
This is one time when I did see the predator move in. This is a Crested Goshawk in Vietnam. This is an uncommonly seen hawk that seemed to appear out of nowhere. He sat for a minute and then disappeared as quickly as he arrived. Within minutes, the birds started singing again-danger passed.
