Grebes have a battery of interesting behaviors. The Western Grebe’s repertoire is among the most intricate and amazing. The “Rushing” of Western and Clark’s Grebes is among the most interesting. Rushing is both a courtship behavior observed when males and females are pairing up. I’ve also been told that competing males will pair off against each other and “rush” Here’s a shot of a pair rising to “rush” and a third party (maybe a jilted suitor) committing what appears to be an intentional “fowl”
