Where did everybody go?

I started off Independence Day by photographing two trains in Springfield, Illinois. On my way home, I saw what looked like 30 turkey vultures roosting on the tower near Spaulding Dam on Lake Springfield. It took me 30 minutes to drive home, grab my digital camera, and walk across the dam. By then, only six turkey vultures were left.
