Back to Sparrows. This bird, a Lark Sparrow, is one of the more colorful sparrows. This is a dry land sparrow; I used to see them in the deserts of Baja California Sur regularly when we lived there. Not common in North Dakota, and only seen in unphotogenic settings. This one is looking for seeds along the road. Still, so colorful, I had no choice but to take the image. Taken with a Canon R5, 600 mm f/4.0 iii + 1.4 extender, at SS 1/2500, f/5.6, ISO 2500. Processed in PS with very little done; cropped about 50%.

Very nice shot of the Lark Sp. Yes, very colorful. Looks like you got down low to get the shot – I can get down, it’s the getting up that’s the problem!
I feel your pain-literally. This shot was taken by holding the lens foot (turned to the “top” of the camera) and then using the back screen to focus and compose. I was leaning out of the driver’s door on my car.
