Common Nighthawk

Birder2011

It’s not too often I see a Nighthawk roosting while awake. While camping at Theodore Roosevelt National Park, we would have Nighthawks roosting in the trees throughout the campground. Right before dusk, you would hear their “pneet” as they get ready to fly thru the sky and catch their meals.

What a great picture of the Nighthawk! You even got its eyes open. Nice exposure considering the lighting.
