Asian Openbill

Asian Open Bill

Viewed 2 Times

This is the smallest stork in the region. It is grey sullied white with black scapulars. It has a large head and a bulbous bill which has a gap in the middle due to a convex maxilla and a mandible. Its legs are pale pink to flesh colored and are shorter then other stocks. In flight the black tail and flight feathers of the asian open bill contrast against the white body. It starts breeding in monsoon. The nest is a small platform of sticks and leaves.
