It is also known as the Eurasian hoopoe or the Eurasian wood pecker. It mainly feeds on insects. they mainly used their long curved beek to probe the ground.. Like the cuckoo the hoopoes name is onomatopoeic as it is named after its soft far carrying song poo, poo, poo.
