I watched these Godwits feeding near the roadside. They are 3 years or younger so they stay in New Zealand over our winter because they are not old enough to breed in Alaska yet. Next month in September the adults will fly from Alaska to New Zealand non-stop 11,000 kms following breeding. It is the longest non-stop flight of any bird in the world.
