Cinnamon Teal

A dabbler

Viewed 4 Times

Coming back to California. I am fortunate to have a place near me, Santee Lakes, that has a large population of year round ducks and a large population in the winter of migratory ducks. Many of the resident ducks are quite comfortable around humans. This is one of those: a Cinnamon Teal. These are so called “dabbling ducks”. They tip upside down to feed on vegetation on the bottom of the pond. Hence, they prefer shallow areas of the lakes.

Nice shot indeed. Still searching for that elusive Cinnamon. They always are just out of range.
