This species was described as pure white heron of India. The color is entire white but parts of the face change green during breeding, it mainly feeds on fish , frogs, small reptiles, small birds. The breeding is done in colonies from march to may,. The clutch consists of two to six pale blue green eggs. The nest is a flat wide platform.
