Yellow-headed Blackbird

Two as one

Getting close to the end of my North Dakota trip. I have processed my images in alphabetical order for this trip and I am on Yellow-headed Blackbirds. These are certainly common birds in many locals, but for me, in Southern California, these were a real novelty. I was photographing the YHB, when this Red-winged Blackbird flew up and initiated a stare down. This image is a combination of two shots; I focused on the YHB first, and then quickly switched my AF point to the RWB. This allowed two images to be taken, each with the respective bird in focus. Then in PS, I combined the two. Not exactly natural, as the birds were in slightly different focal planes, but I still like the effect.
