Wood Duck
Staying in California, there are many things that go into producing a memorable image. Light, beauty of subject, background, pose of the subject all play a role. These images, while not 5 star, certainly demonstrate a few of these requisites. This is a Wood Duck at Santee Lakes. One of the, if the most, beautiful of all ducks, at Santee they are very tolerant of humans. They certainly fit the bill of an interesting subject. Santee Lakes, very early in the morning, often has nice, even beautiful light coming from the rising sun in the east. One of the deficiencies of Santee Lakes is often the background. Walking paths, houses, and light poles are often part of the background. This image has been cropped to eliminate some of that cluttered BG.
