My computer has been giving me problems recently (only partially resolved), so my posts have been absent. This image is of one of my favorite local birds, an American Avocet. During mating season, the colors are subtle, yet, IMO, beautiful. Not only the feather color, but the blue legs add to the overall appeal of this bird. The upturned beak is used to swish in the mud to find worms, etc. This was taken in Irvine, at San Joaquin Marsh and Wildlife reserve.
