Going back to the UK. These are Red Kites, photographed in Wales. As I previously posted, these guys are a testament to what can be done to stave off extinction of a species. From approximately 12 individuals in Wales 40 years ago, there are now thousands. Part of that success is the use of daily feeding stations, where the birds can eat without fear of lead poisoning (from lead shot from hunters’ kills). In spite of the fact that there is sufficient food put out for everybody, there is still fighting among individuals. In fact, some birds continue to fight with each other so much, they miss out all together on the food.
