We were walking along El Crucero Road near Cardel on a sunny afternoon, watching the Double-striped Thick-knees in a broad field. A lone tree stood along the fence line and in it was a hummingbird feeder. Our guide said the feeder attracted Mexican Sheartail Hummingbirds that were known to be in the area. I watched the feeder for nearly an hour, seeing only a female Ruby-throated, while the rest of our group walked down the road. As the afternoon progressed toward evening, the Mexican Sheartail Hummingbirds suddenly appeared.
