Dark-eyed Junco

Autumn bird

Viewed 7 Times

Another “autumn” bird. A Dark-eyed Junco. These guys are wide spread over the western USA, but often look quite different from one area to another. All of them have a characteristic white stripe on each side of their tails when they fly-a dead give away. This is important because I often seen them before sunrise in the woods and when they fly, all I see is the white bands on the tails.

Excellent photo! I love the composition and the details on the bird.
