Last year in October, two LeConte’s Sparrows showed up at Fort Sheridan FP in Lake Forest IL. I was lucky enough, along with a lot of others, to find and photograph them. So, this October and early November I was definitely on the lookout for them. They never appeared. Now, in the first week of December, here are two LeConte’s sparrows in the same exact spot, feeding on the same exact grass seeds as last year. Two different birds? Seems unlikely. Birds are truly amazing.
