Snowy Owl

Contest – Exercising my Wings

Viewed 4 Times

Snowy Owls showed up for many years in Ottawa County, Michigan about the time of the first snow. They could be found regularly in a particular farmland area when six inches of cornstalks were left after the corn was harvested. The last few years they have not been found in the farmland as now the corn is harvested very low and because of the warm fall the land is tilled ready for the next year’s crop.

Over the years we had been seeing them at Holland State Park but again not the last few years. This photo was taken as it flew from the south breakwall to the north breakwall across the channel. This photo captured the feathers around its face and its partial and claw, the sparkle in its eye and its overall beauty.
