There are 12 to 14 types of wagtails in the world, the bird in the picture is a white wagtail. The white wagtail is an insectivorous bird of open country often near habitation and water. It prefers bare areas for feeding. It is the national bird of Latvia and has featured on stamps of several counties. The breeding season is from April to august. 3 to 8 eggs are laid . The eggs are creamy colored often with faint bluish green or turquoise tint and heavily spotted with reddish brown, both parents incubate the eegs period is 16 days both parents feed the chicks they fledge after 15 days, the male has a dark black crown, the female has a grey crown.
