This bird is similar to Richards pipit and paddy field pipit. A medium size pipit with pale brown plumage and fine dark bill. Strong streaking on the head, mantle and black contrast strongly with pale edges on feathers. The face appears clean and eye brows appear to start behind the eye. The wings show distinct white bars. This bird breeds mainly in Mongolia, China and India and is named after English zoologist Edward blyth.
The clutch consists of 3 to 5 eggs in a ground nest in may incubation is 14 days by female. The eggs are greenish in color with brown speckles.
