While in Arizona, we drove to Madera Canyon, which is about 30 miles south of Tucson, and went to the Santa Rita Lodge. The owner of the Lodge has maintained more than a dozen bird feeders for 20 years – to attract birdwatchers to his lodge. There were many very active Mexican Jays at the feeders. Surprisingly, the jays were constantly chased off feeders by the smaller Acorn Woodpeckers!
