Double-crested Cormorants are common winter residents of San Diego inland lakes. Amazing birds, they can dive up to 25′ depth, swim fast enough to chase down fish underwater, and stay submerged for 1 minute. When I was photographing this one, I was set up for shooting birds that were much brighter, Grebes. As a consequence, when this bird flew across my field of vision, my camera settings were such that I grossly underexposed the images. This has been brought up in processing over 1 stop.
