This bird holds the cultural significance and is the state bird of odisha, Telangana and Karnataka. It is known as Neelkanth pakshi. It is the auspicious bird in Indian culture referred as messenger of lord shiva whose throat turned blue and a symbol of good luck during festivals like Dussehra to bring good furtune it is believed to inform lord shiva about the departure of maa durga. Both sexes are similar, The clutch consists of 5 eggs incubation period is 20 days both male and female share the duties eggs are laid in between march and June. The youg ones leave the nest after 30 days
