During fall migration, many land species end up during the day at Holland State Park especially if there was a strong easterly breeze the night before. This breeze blows them out over the lake, and they must fly towards shore the next day. After they land along the break wall they are either in search of food or taking a quick rest from the exhausting flight inland.
