Northern Shoveler Lifting Off

I was surprised to find 5 Shovelers in a little marshy pond that’s not more than 40 yards across. They were all quietly feeding when this one started popping his head up and down. I thought he was going to do a wing flap, so I raised my shutter speed and instead he took off
