The crested serpent eagle as the name suggest is primarily snake hunter. It seems to favour tree snakes but its diet is not limited to serpents it will also take lizards frogs small birds, This eagle will sometime lay eggs in old nest built by other raptors. There is a debate in the scientific community about this species. Some scientist believe that there are 21 different sub species of crested serpent eagle, while others consider some of these to be separate. A lot more study needs to be done about this eagle.
