Limpkin
I had not previously been to the Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve and wasn’t sure what to expect. There is a lovely boardwalk that winds its way through cypress woods and pine hammocks, connecting 4 ponds. There weren’t a lot of birds the afternoon I was there, but I found this Limpkin just a couple of feet outside a blind at one spur of the boardwalk. Considering that I had a 400mm lens, I was much too close to this bird, but I still enjoyed taking the photos!

I don’t now if I’ve seen a Limpkin perched on one leg like that before. Nice shot!
