Pileated Woodpecker

This female Pileated Woodpecker was hanging around our yard and calling to a male that was foraging nearby.
I continued following the movements of both birds and found them drilling a nest hole on the north side of a dead pine in the preserve behind our house. Lucky spot! I’ve been watching them daily as they progress on drilling the nest hole.
