It is the highest flying bird in the world it can fly over the Himalayas in just eight hours. It cn fly upto an altitude exceeding thirty thousand feet. Their specialisation lies in extra ordinary high altitude physiological adaptations including specialised hemoglobin for enchanced oxygen absorption, deep breathing techniques, and increased capillary density in heart muscles to survive low oxygen freezing enviroments. They prefer high altitude mountain lakes in the summer and agricultural fields and wet lands in india during winter. They mainly feed on crops like wheat.
