A pair of Pileated Woodpeckers have been drilling a nest hole on the north side of a dead pine in the preserve behind our house. It has been a pleasure watching them both work. I have especially enjoyed seeing them remove the wood chips from the cavity. Both birds share the work – these images are of the female cleaning house.
