This bird has got different names in various languages haji laqlag in hindi, shwetakanthmabak in snskrit, manikjor in Bengali, kandesar in marathi, and dholiidokdhonk in Gujarati. It is mainly found in agricultural fields wetlands and near water bodies in India, they are silent birds , they have a special cooling method they water in their bill and regulate it to cool their chicks in hot open air nest, they are acrobatic fyers known to exhibit rolling tumbling and diving. Clutch consists of four eggs incubation period is 40 days both parents participate in the incubation the nest consists of large sticks reused for several years.
