Was tracking this Snowy fishing in the tidal marshes of Oyster Rocks Preserve the other morning and kept coming up empty-beaked aside from a mouthful of water and thought it appropriate for the Water Contest! For those who don’t know much about Delaware’s landscape, it is the lowest lying state of all and contains extensive tidal marshlands all along its eastern flank which faces the Delaware River and Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Just further inland from the tidal wetlands it gives way to mixed loblolly pine and mixed deciduous forest land. In other words prime birding habitat! Coastal New Jersey and Maryland share similar topography.
