We took a birding trip with Field Guides in February 2016. We visited parts of Chile, parts of Argentina and Easter Island.
Our guides met up with a local birder who had recently seen this Spotted Rail in a location not previously seen. All of the participants crammed into a very small spot on the small hillside on the edge of the marsh. I was lucky, I was taller and near the front of the group. There was a very small window to see it and take a photo. I looked at it with my binoculars because it was a lifer and quickly grabbed my camera and was lucky to get a couple of photos.
It is a spectacular looking and special bird.
